SCOPE OF WORK:
 
The Product Engineer will
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Technical leadership of the system product design for embedded wireless avionics products
  • Interface to OEM customers on required features/capabilities/characteristics/schedule.
  • Provide technical and program leadership to hardware and software design teams
  • Determine the best architecture to implement new features and functionality into existing products
  • Provide estimates of effort and schedule to complete projects, and detailed status of progress against the schedule
PRE-REQUISITE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering.
  • 7+ years of related systems development experience
  • Ability to read/understand System Requirements and Architecture development
  • Experience in Aviation, specifically in EFIS displays.  Should be able to read/identify the commonly display information (Airspeed, Heading, Course, Track,  Moving Map items such as waypoints, routes, etc
  • Experience in running System level tests on a System bench, i.e stimulating inputs and verifying the operation on the unit.
  • Experience in writing/modifying System test procedures based upon new/modified High Level SW requirements
  • Basic program management skills
  • Understanding of design for embedded systems.
  • Excellent problem solving, troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
  • Able to quickly learn new technologies.
  • Able to provide technical leadership in a team environment.
 
DESIRED SKILLS:
  • Familiarity with aircraft, aviation, avionics and associated standards such as RTCA DO-178B/C, DO-160,  DO-254, ARINC 429, TSOs, etc.
  • Embedded Wifi/Cellular networking, network security considerations
  • Embedded Linux OS operation
 
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Correctable vision and hearing
  • Ability to move through approximately 45,000 square foot building
  • Light physical effort required to frequently and repetitively lift or move lightweight parts and materials
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, reach within hands’ and arms’ length, stoop, kneel, and crouch
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently in fast paced environment
  • Ability to work successfully in a team environment
  • Ability to effectively handle multiple tasks simultaneously and accept job assignments from employees other than immediate supervisor
